RASC News Agency: Afghanistani women’s protest movements, in an open letter, demanded the issuance of a resolution by the United Nations regarding the “rule of gender apartheid” in Afghanistan.
This open letter was delivered to the United Nations Human Rights Council by a number of protesting women of the country, including Parwana Ebrahimkhel Nejrabi, on Tuesday, September 12.
In this letter, they have asked the officials of the United Nations and the member countries of this organization to prove their goodwill towards human principles such as human rights, democracy, rule of law and social justice, and to show the only concrete example of “gender apartheid” in the world in Afghanistan.
In this letter, Afghanistani women’s protest movements also demanded a review of cash aid to Afghanistan and said that this aid should not strengthen the Taliban group.
The protesting women of the country have put forward a complete ban on the foreign trips of Taliban officials, the immediate and unconditional release of political, civil and media activists from Taliban prisons and the halting of any efforts to recognize the Taliban as part of their demands.
In addition, they demand the direct and honest support of the United Nations and the international community for the formation of an inclusive system based on the rule of law and the people’s vote in Afghanistan, support for the opposing movements of the Taliban group. As well as taking of preventive measures by the United Nations Security Council to prevent more disasters have been caused by the Taliban group.
This letter has been published while yesterday the United Nations Human Rights Commissioner said at the 54th meeting of this council that human rights in Afghanistan are collapsing.
She said that after the domination of the Taliban group, human rights, especially women’s rights, have been systematically attacked in Afghanistan.
Previously, UN experts said that it is now necessary to discuss gender apartheid in Afghanistan.
