RASC News Agency: In a joint declaration, China and Pakistan have called on the Taliban to take immediate measures to prevent the use of Afghanistan territory for activities against neighboring nations, the broader region, and the international community. The statement was issued by Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday, October 15, following high-level discussions between Chinese Premier Li Qiang, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, President Asif Ali Zardari, and other key officials in Islamabad.
The two nations urged the Taliban to implement concrete, observable, and verifiable actions to neutralize all terrorist groups currently operating from Afghanistan, emphasizing the ongoing threat these groups pose to both regional and global security. China and Pakistan further stressed the importance of bolstering counterterrorism cooperation, both bilaterally and multilaterally, in order to assist the Taliban in adopting comprehensive anti-terrorism measures.
Additionally, the joint statement appealed to the international community to unite in encouraging the Taliban to establish an inclusive political structure, adhere to moderate policies, and foster harmonious relations with neighboring countries. Both China and Pakistan committed to enhancing their coordination on the Afghanistan issue, aiming to play a constructive role in supporting Afghanistan’s long-term development and integration into the global community.
Pakistan has previously accused the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), a group it designates as a terrorist organization, of utilizing Afghanistan soil to launch attacks against Pakistan. Pakistani authorities have repeatedly called on the Taliban to detain and extradite TTP leaders and members. The Taliban, however, have consistently denied these allegations, accusing Pakistan of shifting blame for its own internal security lapses. Despite these denials, it is well known that thousands of TTP fighters, along with their leadership, reside within Afghanistan under the political and financial protection of the Taliban.
