National Resistance Front: ISIS is Attempting to Threaten Regional Diplomatic Missions

RASC News Agency: The National Resistance Front of Afghanistan has issued a statement claiming that ISIS is exploiting the security vacuums created by the Taliban to plan attacks on the diplomatic missions of regional countries, particularly Russia, within Afghanistan. The Front asserts that the Taliban-controlled Afghanistan poses a severe threat to neighboring countries, especially Russia. They have urged international organizations to adopt preventive measures and strengthen coordination to counter this emerging danger.

The National Resistance Front further alleges that ISIS is not only targeting diplomatic missions within Afghanistan but is also preparing attacks on its preferred targets in other countries. In contrast, General David Petraeus, former Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), has stated that the Taliban are failing to contain cross-border attacks from ISIS-Khorasan and the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). In an interview with Al Arabiya, Petraeus noted that the Taliban’s inability to manage their territory adequately has allowed ISIS-Khorasan to demonstrate its capacity to conduct attacks beyond Afghanistan’s borders, a development he finds highly alarming.

Following the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan, ISIS has intensified its attacks against both the Taliban and its interests in other countries, including Iran and Russia. It appears that ISIS is leveraging the instability in Afghanistan to escalate its terror activities. The Taliban have yet to establish complete control over Afghanistan. Currently, there are active resistance movements against both the Taliban and ISIS, with the latter having carried out numerous attacks.
