RASC News Agency: According to media reports, Khaibar Akifi, an Afghanistani journalist currently residing in Russia, has suffered injuries as a result of an assault by a Ukrainian drone. The tragic incident has left Mr. Akifi in a comatose state, as confirmed by Margarita Simonyan, the head of the Russian RT TV channel, cited by Voice of America.
In addition, Ms. Simonyan has conveyed the heartbreaking news that the assault led to the untimely demise of Mr. Akifi’s wife’s parents and their four-year-old daughter.
The director of Russia’s RT channel has substantiated the occupation of Khaibar Akifi, a 29-year-old journalist, prior to the incident. He was engaged in news coverage following the devastating Herat earthquake. However, he subsequently took a leave of absence to visit his family in Belgorod, located in western Russia.
According to a report, one of Mr. Akifi’s relatives has confirmed this information and assured that despite earlier announcements made by Vyacheslav Gladkov, the governor of the region, Mr. Akifi’s wife remains in stable condition. Governor Gladkov had initially declared that as a result of an unmanned drone crashing onto a residential property, four individuals, including a child, had been killed or injured.
Moreover, reports indicate that significant damage to multiple houses occurred due to the wreckage of the drone upon impact.
Meanwhile, Russian authorities had previously reported the retrieval of a man and a woman’s bodies from beneath the debris in the area, alongside the transfer of an injured man and woman to a nearby hospital. The connection between these two incidents and the assault on Khaibar Akifi remains uncertain.
