RASC News Agency: In the continuation of suicide events in Afghanistan; The “Guardian” newspaper has said in a new report that suicide of women in Afghanistan is increasing.

This media has reported on Monday, August 28 that data collected from government hospitals and health centers across Afghanistan showed that suicide among women has increased over the past two years.

This report stated that the number of female suicides in 2021 had a “significant increase”.

It is stated in this report that the officials of the Taliban group have not published any statistics to show how many women have committed suicide in the last two years.

The “Guardian” media report stated that the increase in the number of suicides in Afghanistan shows the desperation of women in Afghanistan.

On the other hand, data from the World Health Organization show that more than twice as many women as men die by suicide worldwide.

However, a United Nations official said that most of the suicide incidents of women in Afghanistan are caused by psychological problems.

According to the United Nations, 9 out of 10 women in Afghanistan experience domestic violence.

In addition, this UN official said that the prohibition of education, training, work and other restrictions of the Taliban group against women has increased suicide among them.

On the other hand, a survey published in BMC Psychiatry magazine two months before the Taliban took over Afghanistan showed that nearly half of the Afghanistani population suffers from mental illness.
