RASC News Agency: “Afghanistan International” media has reported, quoting sources, that a secret meeting of several days between representatives of the Taliban group and a number of “political activists” of Afghanistan is being held in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia.

According to the sources, on Saturday, August 19, the fourth day of talks is going on behind closed doors.

According to information from the sources, Farooq Azam, the adviser of the Ministry of Water and Energy under the administration of the Taliban group, leads the delegation of this group, and the total number of participants of the secret meeting from both sides reaches 30 people.

Some of the political and civil figures of Afghanistan, including Omar Samad, the former ambassador of Afghanistan in Paris, Kawon Kakar, a lawyer, Asila Wardak, a former diplomat, Fatima Gilani, the former head of the Afghanistan Red Crescent, Faiz Zaland, a professor at Kabul University, Ehsan Zia, the former minister of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development, Abdul Qayyum Sajjadi, a former member of the House of Representatives, Jafar Mahdawi, a political activist, Wais Barmak, a former minister of the interior, Golali Safi, a former member of the House of Representatives, Khadija Mahdi, a civil society activist, and Ayoub Erfani, a political activist, participated in this secret meeting.

Prior to this, arrangements were made to hold this meeting away from the eyes of the media, and so far, there is no information about the agenda of these talks.

The Taliban group and other participants of the meeting have not officially expressed their opinion about this meeting.

According to the source, this meeting was held in continuation of the efforts in line with the “policy of engagement with the Taliban”.

Previously, the delegation of the Taliban group had a meeting and discussion with the US special representatives for Afghanistan and a number of Afghanistani in Doha, the capital of Qatar, which was accompanied by a sharp reaction of the Afghanistani citizens, especially the protesting women.
