RASC: The meeting of the United Nations Human Rights Council on the situation of women and girls in Afghanistan is scheduled to be held today (Monday, June 19).
It is said that this meeting will be held in Genoa from 1:00 to 2:00 PM local time.
Richard Bennett, the special rapporteur for human rights of the United Nations and human rights organizations will present their reports on the situation of Afghanistani women in this issue.
In addition to Mr. Bennett, Parwana Ebrahimkhel and Nagin Yari, women’s rights activists from Afghanistan will speak in this meeting.
In his last report, Richard Bennett had announced the issuance of more than 50 restrictive orders against Afghanistani women and girls by the Taliban group.
According to him, the content of this report constitutes “wide and systematic discrimination against women and girls in Afghanistan and their endurance and ability against this oppression”.
It should be mentioned that yesterday, on the eve of the United Nations Human Rights Council meeting on Afghanistani women, the protesting women of Afghanistan, in an open letter to this council, wanted to put more and more effective pressure on the Taliban group.
