RASC: Reliable sources in Samangan and Bamyan province say that Mohammad Tahir Zuhair, the former governor of Bamyan, has surrendered to the Taliban group.
According to the sources, Zuhair surrendered to the Taliban group on Wednesday 10 May 2023 in Dare e Souf city of Samangan province.
One of the sources, confirming this news, says that the reason for Zuhair’s surrender is that he and his men were surrounded in the mountains of Dareh Souf city and the borders of Bamyan, Sar e pol and Samangan provinces and no facilities reached them.
After nearly two years, Mohammad Tahir Zuhair came down from the mountain and surrendered to the local officials of the Taliban group in Dara e Souf city of Samangan province.
After a number of his family members and relatives threatened, detained and tortured by the Taliban group in Bamyan, Samangan and Kabul provinces Zuhair stopped opposing this group.
So far, Zuhair’s relatives have not officially confirmed or denied this issue.
Although the local officials of the Taliban group in Samangan province have not officially said anything about this issue, but a reliable source in the intelligence department of the Taliban group in Samangan says that Mohammad Tahir Zuhair, one of the commanders of the resistance front in Balkhab and Dara e Souf city, yesterday in Dahntor market of the city. Dara e Souf surrendered to the “Taliban group”.
Mohammad Tahir Zahir, the former governor of Bamyan province and acting minister of information and culture in the previous government, fought against this group last year alongside Mawlawi Mehdi, the Hazara commander of the Taliban group in Balkhab city of Sar e Pol province, and after he was killed, he took command of his forces.
