RASC News Agency: Local Taliban officials in Samangan province have announced that the World Food Program has distributed food packages to 4,533 needy families in the province. The Taliban officials in Samangan province stated on Tuesday November 14th, that the food aid packages were distributed to impoverished families in Hazrat Salman district of the province. However, some residents of Samangan province are requesting humanitarian organizations to expand and sustain such humanitarian assistance to the needy families in the province. They added that considering the growing poverty and unemployment in the country, the distribution of these kinds of aid becomes vital and significant for the needy families.

It is worth mentioning that some humanitarian organizations, particularly the World Food Program, have previously reported providing cash assistance and food supplies to needy families in various provinces of the country. Although the number of people in need of humanitarian assistance has increased in different provinces of the country, some of these organizations have warned about the insufficient budget for providing such assistance and expressed concerns.

Meanwhile, it is noteworthy that due to the ongoing crisis in the country, the reduction in the activities of relief organizations due to budget cuts, the imposition of restrictions on women’s activities, and the behavior of the Taliban towards humanitarian workers have led to an increase in the number of people in need and a decrease in the activities of relief organizations.
