RASC News Agency: The National Resistance Front of Afghanistan (NRF) has claimed responsibility for the recent explosion in Takhar province, asserting that three Taliban fighters were killed in the attack. In an official statement published on X, the NRF reported that its forces launched an assault at approximately 6:30 PM on Sunday, March 16, targeting a Taliban security checkpoint along the road leading to the group’s intelligence headquarters in Taloqan, the provincial capital of Takhar. According to the NRF, two additional Taliban fighters sustained injuries in the operation. The statement emphasized: “Our forces and civilians remained unharmed during this attack.” The NRF further reiterated its commitment to intensifying covert operations against the Taliban.
This incident coincides with reports from local sources confirming an explosion in Taloqan earlier this evening. As of now, the Taliban has not issued any official response regarding the attack. It is noteworthy that nearly three and a half years ago, following Afghanistan’s collapse into Taliban control and the subsequent flight of former President Ashraf Ghani along with the top republic officials, the National Resistance Front was established in Panjshir as a bastion of defiance. Since then, the NRF has engaged in sustained armed resistance against the Taliban. Additionally, the Afghanistan Freedom Front also declared war on the group.
Despite receiving no formal military or financial support from any nation, these two resistance fronts both primarily led by Tajiks have inflicted significant blows on the Taliban. Meanwhile, other political and ethnic leaders have chosen exile, waiting to see how the Tajiks shape the resistance movement.
