RASC News Agency: The Ministry of Higher Education of the Taliban group has issued a directive, conveyed through a communique addressed to all universities and private institutions of higher learning, mandating the purgation of libraries within these academic entities from literature conflicting with Hanafi jurisprudence. Concurrently, the Directorate of Invitation and Guidance of the Ministry of Higher Education of the Taliban group promulgated this decree on 14th of December, in the current year, using a missive titled “To All Universities and Private Institutions of Higher Learning.”
Moreover, the missive from the Ministry of Higher Education of the Taliban group stipulates that the libraries of universities and private institutions of higher learning must undergo a cleansing process, expunging books contrary to Hanafi jurisprudence, political tomes, and any literature posing doctrinal challenges. Notwithstanding, the missive from the Directorate of Guidance of the Ministry of Higher Education of the Taliban group asserts that, in lieu of such books, other volumes portraying the noble character of Prophet Muhammad should be introduced, with their list pre-approved by the Directorate of Invitation and Guidance of the Ministry of Higher Education.
It is noteworthy that the decision to purge libraries coincides with a statement by Neda Mohammad Nadeem, the acting head of the Ministry of Higher Education of the Taliban group in Kunar province, asserting that there are no sects in Afghanistan, and all individuals in this country adhere to Hanafi jurisprudence. It should be mentioned that during their two-year political ascendancy in Afghanistan, the Taliban group endeavors to suppress enlightenment by closing educational institutions for women and censoring books and written articles through various means.
