RASC: Simultaneously with the 50th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Genoa, the Human Rights Council announced the holding of a meeting on the situation of Afghanistani women on Monday (June 19).
In this meeting, Richard Bennett, the special rapporteur for human rights of the United Nations and human rights organizations are supposed to present their report on the situation of Afghanistani women.
It has been said that Mr. Bennett, Parwana Ebrahim Khel and Negin Yari, women’s rights activists from Afghanistan, will speak in this meeting.
In his latest report on the situation of women and girls in Afghanistan, Richard Bennett has announced the issuance of more than 50 repressive orders by the Taliban group.
He says that the content of this report constitutes “widespread and systematic discrimination against women and girls in Afghanistan and their endurance and ability against these repressions”.
Amnesty International has also announced the findings of its latest report under the name “Taliban’s war against women: crime against humanity and sexual harassment in Afghanistan” at the meeting of the Human Rights Council.
The Afghanistani delegation in Genoa also says that it is planned to discuss the situation of Afghanistani women in the Human Rights Council on June 20 in a side meeting.
