Fierce Clashes Erupt Between Taliban and Unidentified Armed Groups in Charkhab, Kunduz

RASC News Agency: Local sources report an intense armed confrontation between Taliban forces and unidentified gunmen in the Charkhab area, located within Kunduz City’s Fourth Security District. According to reports, the firefight erupted at around midnight and raged on until early morning, with the persistent sound of heavy gunfire echoing throughout the area. The Taliban have yet to issue an official statement on the incident.

This marks the third major attack in Kunduz province within the past 24 hours. Earlier, sources confirmed that a grenade attack targeted Taliban forces at Abdul Raziq Square in the Sar-Dura area, while another violent skirmish unfolded in the Angur Bagh district. Reports indicate that three individuals lost their lives in the Sar-Dura explosion. Meanwhile, a Taliban Ranger vehicle was ambushed in Angur Bagh, though details regarding casualties remain undisclosed. Across various provinces, Afghanistani citizens have raised grave concerns over the escalating wave of insecurity and the increasing frequency of attacks against Taliban operatives.

However, in keeping with their long-standing tradition of secrecy, the Taliban have remained tight-lipped regarding these incidents. Sources suggest that the Taliban’s deliberate silence on such matters stems from the rigid chain of command within their ranks. Allegedly, all statements related to security breaches must first be sanctioned by Mullah Hibatullah in Kandahar, and any Taliban official who publicly acknowledges such incidents without approval risks arrest and imprisonment.
