Miller: The Taliban Group Must Take Specific Measures to Get Recognition

RASC: While it has been a long time since the Taliban took control of the country and this group has not been recognized by any country, Matthew Miller, the spokesperson of the US Department of State, said in this regard that this group must take specific measures to achieve international recognition.

Miller told Voice of America on Wednesday night, July 19, that the Taliban group must take effective and specific measures in order to be recognized by the international community.

He added: “We have always clearly stated to the Taliban group, if they want international legitimacy, we expect them to take specific measures.”

The spokesperson of the US Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not say anything clearly about these measures, but before this, the formation of an inclusive government and respect for human rights laws, especially the rights of women and girls, were among the demands of the US and the international community from the Taliban group to recognize this group.

This American official stated that in response to the “bigotry” actions of the Taliban group against Afghanistani girls and women, they are protesting.

He added that Washington interacts with the Taliban group only in a few specific cases, and the international community adjusts its relations with this group based on the group’s performance and monitoring their sites and orders.

It should be noted that while Miller is making these statements regarding the Taliban group’s avoidance of recognition by the international community, a few days ago, Tobias Ellwood, the head of the British Parliament’s defense affairs committee, called for his country’s interaction with the Taliban group. Last night, he misread his statements again.

It should be noted that while it has been nearly two years since the Taliban took over the country, no country is ready to recognize this group.
