Two Men Assassinated in Faryab Amid Escalating Violence

RASC News Agency: Reports from Faryab province indicate that two men have been killed in separate incidents in the districts of Shirin Tagab and Almar, underscoring the deteriorating security situation in the region. In Shirin Tagab, a man identified as Firooz was gunned down late at night by unknown assailants, who targeted him with a handgun. According to local sources, Firooz was a resident of Tash Qala village and owned a fuel station. The motive behind his assassination remains unclear. Meanwhile, in Almar district, another man was killed in a violent altercation. Local sources report that the confrontation erupted on Tuesday in Kabootarkhan village between two families. During the clash, a man named Sargul was bludgeoned to death with a wooden club, while his brother sustained serious injuries.
While initial reports suggest that the conflict stemmed from a family dispute, the exact circumstances remain undisclosed. Taliban authorities in Faryab have thus far refrained from commenting on either incident. These latest killings add to a growing pattern of mysterious assassinations in Faryab. Just a day earlier, two other men were reportedly murdered under unclear circumstances. Violence and the discovery of unidentified bodies have become daily occurrences across Afghanistan. On Tuesday, the body of another victim was found in Nimroz province, adding to the escalating climate of fear.
While the Taliban routinely attribute these killings to “unknown gunmen,” they simultaneously claim that no other armed groups operate within Afghanistan. However, eyewitness accounts challenge this narrative, arguing that the Taliban themselves are responsible for many of these extrajudicial executions and targeted assassinations.
