RASC News Agency: Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban spokesperson, recently declared that despite the Taliban’s efforts to eliminate drug cultivation and trafficking in Afghanistan, drugs persist in being smuggled from the country to other nations. Reports surfaced on Saturday, Feb 17, indicating that the Taliban spokesperson made these statements during an interview with national television under the Taliban’s administration.

However, Mujahid emphasized that the Taliban’s campaign against drug eradication in Afghanistan is “extensive,” further stating, “We have not yet reached a stage where we can entirely halt trafficking.” This revelation coincides with earlier remarks by Nikolai Patrushev, the Secretary of Russia’s Security Council, who highlighted that drugs originating in Afghanistan are being trafficked to Central Asian countries from existing stockpiles in the short term.

It is noteworthy that a significant portion of the populace accuses individuals affiliated with the Taliban of participating in drug cultivation, trafficking, acquisition, and distribution—a claim consistently refuted by the group.
