RASC News Agency: In yet another act of targeted violence, unidentified motorcycle-riding gunmen fatally shot two brothers in the Khair Khana Pass area of Kabul. According to sources, the victims identified as Irfan and Usman were ambushed near their residence on the evening of Tuesday, January 28, as they returned from the mosque. The assailants, armed with pistols, carried out the execution-style attack before fleeing the scene. A source familiar with the case disclosed that the slain brothers lived in the Khair Khana Pass neighborhood, specifically on Marshal Fahim Alley. The motive behind the killings remains unknown, though sources confirm that Irfan and Usman were both athletes and originally hailed from Parwan province. As of now, Taliban security officials in Kabul have yet to comment on the incident.
This latest attack is part of a disturbing pattern of family-targeted assassinations reported across Afghanistan in recent days. On Tuesday night, gunmen massacred ten members of a single family in Khost province. A day earlier, in Nangarhar, another pair of brothers fell victim to a similar attack. These incidents unfold against the backdrop of the Taliban’s repeated assertions of nationwide security a claim increasingly undermined by the relentless wave of targeted killings and mysterious assassinations sweeping the country.
What is particularly alarming is that the majority of those being executed, arrested, or forcibly disappeared belong to the Tajik ethnic group.
