RASC News Agency: Local sources in Takhar have reported an attack on a vehicle carrying Chinese nationals in the province. According to the sources, the incident occurred on the evening of Tuesday, January 21, in the Katakjar area of Khwaja Bahauddin District. One source revealed that the attack resulted in the death of a Chinese national who was involved in mining operations. The source further disclosed that the victim had been physically assaulted prior to his death.
Another source suggested that the assailants were robbers who, in addition to killing the Chinese citizen, seized a significant amount of money belonging to the victim. The identity of the deceased Chinese national remains unclear, and the Taliban authorities in Takhar have not issued any statements regarding the incident. This attack is part of a troubling pattern, as foreign nationals have been repeatedly targeted in areas under Taliban control. The incident calls into question the Taliban’s persistent claims of having established comprehensive security across Afghanistan, assuring that there is no risk for citizens or foreigners.
Evidence suggests that Taliban members may have been complicit in this attack, given the group’s notorious history of engaging in covert and unexplained killings, often driven by financial motives. Furthermore, despite the Taliban’s assurances of nationwide security, daily reports of mysterious killings continue to surface. These incidents starkly highlight the group’s failure to deliver on its promises of stability, underscoring the ongoing insecurity in the country. Consequently, numerous nations still regard Afghanistan as an unsafe destination for travel.
