RASC News Agency: The Office of the Economic Deputy of the Taliban’s Prime Minister has revealed in its latest report of the collection of 48,119 individuals seeking alms from various parts of Kabul. As per the report unveiled on Sunday, January 7, by this division of the Taliban and published on the social media platform “X,” the registered individuals include 14,813 women, 7,580 men, and 25,726 children.
According to available information, the biometric data of the registered children has been transmitted to orphanages. It is noted that the leadership of the committee overseeing the collection of alms is borne by Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, the Economic Deputy of the Taliban’s Prime Minister. The report from the Office asserts the continuation of the alms collection initiative from various parts of Kabul and other provinces. This development coincides with recent statements by Mullah Khairullah Khairkhwah, the Minister of Information and Culture of the Taliban, underscoring the collection of alms as a noteworthy accomplishment.
Moreover, reports surfaced some time ago, indicating that since the Taliban’s assumption of control in the country, coupled with escalating poverty and unemployment in Afghanistan, the number of individuals seeking alms in Kabul has been on the rise, with daily increments. Meanwhile, some of these individuals seeking alms have voiced that they would refrain from begging if the Taliban were to implement a plan to offer them employment opportunities for sustenance.
It is asserted that the scarcity of job opportunities in the country, Taliban-imposed constraints on the work and involvement of women in governmental and non-governmental entities, and decades of families being left without providers are contributing factors to the mounting numbers of those seeking alms.
