Ongoing Arrests: Taliban Detain a Resident of Panjshir

RASC News Agency: Local sources have reported the detention of a Panjshir resident by the Taliban in the province. According to these sources, the individual was apprehended on Tuesday evening, January 14, in the Abdullahkhel valley of Darah district and subsequently transferred to an undisclosed location. The detainee, identified as Ghulam Akbar, has been accused of collaborating with the National Resistance Front.

Despite these allegations, sources have clarified that Ghulam Akbar is a civilian with no affiliation to any political or military organizations. The Taliban have yet to issue any statement regarding the incident. Reports indicate that over the past two weeks, the Taliban have detained at least ten residents of Panjshir. Earlier reports revealed that the Taliban routinely arrest, imprison, and torture residents of Panjshir as part of their extortion practices. Over the past three years, the Taliban are alleged to have detained, tortured, incarcerated, and killed approximately 10,000 Tajik youth, primarily from Panjshir and Andarab.

Furthermore, reports suggest that tribal Taliban soldiers frequently detain Panjshir residents or summarily execute them, often under the pretext of alleged collaboration with the National Resistance Front. In many cases, such actions are prompted by nothing more than personal grievances or disapproval of the residents’ demeanor or conduct.
