RASC News Agency: In a two-day meeting in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, foreign ministers from the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member countries will discuss the “terrorist” threats and the stability of Afghanistan under Taliban rule. According to TASS news agency, the meeting will be held on Monday and Tuesday and 21, with the participation of the foreign ministers from the organization’s member countries.

TASS reports that the ministers will also prepare for the upcoming SCO summit, scheduled for July 5 and 6. Additionally, they will exchange views on bolstering stability in Afghanistan under Taliban control, addressing “terrorist” threats, and tackling drug trafficking. Another agenda item is to review current developments in the Middle East, including the conflict between Israel and Hamas.

Sergey Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Minister, has traveled to Astana to attend the SCO foreign ministers’ meeting. Murad Nurtleu, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, will chair the meeting. SCO members include China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Iran, India, and Pakistan.

Currently, the organization has invited Afghanistan, Mongolia, Belarus, Iraq, and Sri Lanka as observers. Last month, SCO representatives urged the Taliban to adhere to their commitments to combat “terrorist groups.”

They identified the activities of “terrorist groups” in Afghanistan under Taliban rule as a serious threat to the member countries of this regional organization.
