RASC News Agency: A growing number of Panjshir’s youth have reacted strongly to the rhetoric and propaganda of Mawlawi Yahya Unabi, describing him as an extremist and a “mouthpiece for the Taliban.” According to these youths, Mawlawi Anabi actively promotes the Taliban regime, fosters extremism among Panjshir’s younger population, and dismisses the sacrifices of hundreds of Panjshir youths killed by the Taliban as inconsequential to the group’s leadership. Mawlawi Yahya Unabi, a pro-Taliban cleric based in Panjshir, recently criticized Ahmed Shar’a, Syria’s new leader, for his remarks on holding elections, referring to him as a “corrupt individual.” He further stated that allowing girls to attend schools and universities spells disaster and ruin for any nation or government.
Unabi claimed, “If women attend universities, they learn to speak out, and that is not in their interest.” The cleric has previously made inflammatory comments about women and youth. In a recent speech, Mawlawi Unabi labeled Panjshir’s youth as “delinquents” and urged them to join the Taliban government instead of fleeing the country. He asserted that leaving Afghanistan is the act of “vagabonds,” even as thousands of Panjshir youth flee Taliban oppression, poverty, and unemployment, seeking refuge in countries such as Iran and Pakistan.
Ahmed, a resident of Panjshir, denounced Anabi’s remarks, saying, “This extremist cleric is nothing more than a sycophant for the Taliban. The blood of Panjshir’s youth holds no value to him.” Yasin, a resident of Rukha in Panjshir, echoed these sentiments, stating, “Mawlawi Yahya has become a stain on Panjshir’s honor.” Many others have condemned Mawlawi Yahya’s statements, accusing him of being a propagandist for the Taliban and betraying the dignity of Panjshir’s people.
