RASC News Agency: Local sources from Mazar-e-Sharif, the capital of Balkh province, report that a young man recently took his own life in the province. Sources informed the media on Wednesday, April 24, that the young man, named Azizullah and aged 21, hanged himself in his home in the 10th district of Mazar-e-Sharif last night.

The Taliban police command in Balkh confirmed the news, stating that Azizullah had requested money from his family for a trip to Iran and warned that if the funds were not provided, he would commit suicide.

The young man, originally from Baghlan province, intended to travel to Iran to support his family economically. It is reported that he took his own life due to poverty and financial hardship.

This week, at least three cases of suicide have been reported from the provinces of Paktika, Khost, and Balkh.

In the most recent incident, a man, in protest against the “injustice of the local Taliban administration,” fatally stabbed himself in front of the governor’s office of Ali Sher district in Khost.
