RASC News Agency: Zahra Baloch, spokesperson for Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, announced in a press briefing that Zamir Kabulov, Russia’s special envoy for Afghanistan and a key advocate of Taliban relations, is visiting Pakistan today, Thursday. During his visit, Kabulov will meet with Amna Baloch, Pakistan’s Deputy Foreign Minister, and engage in detailed discussions with Ahmed Naseem Waraich, Deputy Minister for Afghanistan and West Asian Affairs.
Ms. Baloch highlighted that these meetings will focus on reviewing the latest developments in Afghanistan and exchanging perspectives on how neighboring countries can play a constructive role in promoting regional peace and stability. Pakistan has repeatedly urged the Taliban to address the presence of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) operatives within Afghanistan. While the Taliban deny that TTP members are in Afghanistan, a UN report released in July estimated that around 6,000 TTP fighters are currently operating there.
Afghanistan has effectively become a haven not only for Pakistani militant groups but also for several terrorist organizations from the Middle East, Central Asia, and South Asia. These groups are reportedly engaging in training, recruitment, and equipping their forces, raising alarm among neighboring nations, particularly in Central Asia. Concerns over this issue have been expressed repeatedly in both national and international forums.
Despite accusations of hosting and supporting these militant groups through financial, intelligence, and political channels, the Taliban consistently deny their presence within Afghanistan’s borders.
