RASC News Agency: The oppressive tactics employed by the Taliban have resulted in the imprisonment of numerous educated youth and intellectuals in Afghanistan. Drawing inspiration from the oppressive communist regimes that once reigned over the country, the Taliban has established a reign of terror, particularly targeting women and girls. Reports indicate that the Taliban frequently detains young individuals, including women and girls, in Kabul and other areas of Afghanistan, without revealing the reasons behind their arrests. Consequently, the fate of these detainees remains uncertain. Startlingly, the Ministry of Interior of the Taliban recently revealed that nearly three thousand citizens have been detained by the group in the past six months alone.

Non-governmental reports suggest that the Taliban has incarcerated over twenty thousand Afghanistani citizens on various charges, with a significant number of them coming from non-Pashtun ethnic groups in the northern provinces, such as Panjshir, Kapisa, Parwan, and Baghlan. Disturbingly, the Taliban has intensified its detention and torture of these groups, often forcing detainees to make false confessions before executing them mercilessly. In a recent operation, the Taliban apprehended several young individuals from the northern provinces who were studying and residing in Kabul and other parts of the country. The RASC news agency received insider information claiming that, on November 14th, ten young residents of the Fandaqestan Valley in Siahgerd district, Parwan province, were detained by Taliban intelligence. According to sources one of the students Named Raheb lost his life as a result of torture, while the other nine remain imprisoned. Reportedly, the deceased student’s body was transferred to Ghorband.

In another incident, Local sources from Takhar province have reported that the Taliban intelligence arrested three individuals last week, accusing them of insulting their clandestine leader. These individuals, identified as Sayed Abdul Hadi, a member of the Education Supervision Committee, and Sayed Jamal, a court employee in Namakab district, were initially detained and then transferred to the Taliban’s intelligence headquarters in Taluqan city Accused of insulting the Mullah Hebatullah the hidden leader of the Taliban group. The local sources in Kabul have substantiated these claims. Furthermore, RASC news agency has received confirmation from Kabul sources that Prisa Azadah, a member of the Afghanistani Women’s Movement for Justice and Freedom, has also been apprehended by the Taliban intelligence. According to sources this woman, known for her advocacy work, was arrested on the morning of November 14th from the Dasht-e Barchi area in western Kabul and taken to an undisclosed location.

According to reliable sources, Prisa Azadah was arrested by the Taliban while she was preparing to print a banner for a protest program at a printing house in Kabul city. It is important to note that the Taliban have consistently denied any involvement in these detentions over the past two years, refusing to take responsibility for such actions.

Political analysts have drawn comparisons between the targeted and secretive arrests carried out by the Taliban and the intelligence networks of oppressive communist regimes and their proxy governments. This strategy is reminiscent of the intelligence agencies during the communist era in Afghanistan, where Islamic opponents were detained, tortured, and even buried alive. The Taliban’s intelligence operations employ similar methods, aiming to enforce tyranny, detain and torture people, and ultimately eradicate educated elites and young individuals from society, effectively silencing the voice of freedom.

In recent years, the Taliban have been targeting young intellectuals and individuals with local influence in Kabul and the northern provinces of Afghanistan through the recruitment of spies. Once identified, these individuals are subsequently arrested and imprisoned on various charges, including alleged membership in the national resistance front. These detainees have been subjected to excruciating and unjust torture, leading to the untimely death of some. Prior to this, a research conducted by the RASC news agency revealed that the majority of Taliban prisoners hail from the northern provinces of Afghanistan.

The methods employed by the Taliban intelligence are barbaric, including branding with heated irons, electric shocks, extraction of nails using pliers, hanging individuals by one foot, and beatings. Additionally, according to testimonies of prisoners, the Taliban’s intelligence has stooped to the heinous act of forcing prisoners to consume “human waste.”
