Belgium Revokes Asylum of Pro-Taliban YouTuber and Suicide Bomber Advocate

RASC News Agency: Belgian media report that the asylum status of Jamil Qaderi, a YouTuber who publicly supports the Taliban, has been revoked. Qaderi’s asylum came under review last year after he openly expressed support for the Taliban on social media platforms. Additionally, a petition signed by 7,500 individuals called for the revocation of his asylum in Belgium.

In response, Nicole de Moor, Belgium’s Deputy Minister of Immigration, announced that she had requested the Commissioner General for Refugees and Stateless Persons to reassess Qaderi’s asylum case. Previously, Qaderi had used his YouTube channel to openly praise the Taliban’s policies, broadcasting songs and footage glorifying Taliban fighters, while also applauding their directives. In one video, he even defended suicide bombings.

Despite the Taliban’s exclusionary governance dominated by a single ethnic, religious, and gender group Qaderi argued that their rule was beneficial for the Afghanistani people. He claimed that their regime had brought stability and reduced bloodshed in Afghanistan. Qaderi also confirmed that Belgian authorities had summoned him for questioning several times.

Georges Dallemagne, a Belgian Member of Parliament, commented that Qaderi was promoting the very regime he claimed to have fled. Qaderi, who has lived in Belgium since 2010, posted a photo in November 2023 with a Taliban official standing next to the group’s flag, boasting that he had “raised the Taliban’s flag in Europe.”
