According to an official statement, the United Arab Emirates has deployed planes carrying 53 tons of relief materials, encompassing vital food packages and 500 tents, to Afghanistan. This concerted effort aims to provide crucial assistance to the victims impacted by the catastrophic earthquake.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates has reiterated their steadfast commitment to aiding the earthquake victims in Herat province for an uninterrupted period of five days. Undeterred by the challenges at hand, the UAE has confirmed its ongoing support in the form of delivering 140 tons of aid packages to alleviate the suffering of those affected by the tragic earthquake that ravaged the region last week. This humanitarian assistance is provided despite numerous organizations and countries worldwide pledging their own aid to the victims.
In addition to these commendable endeavors, a collective initiative spearheaded by prominent Afghanistani athletes, artists, and activists has been launched to gather financial assistance for the earthquake victims in Herat. This ongoing campaign amplifies the collective empathy and solidarity exhibited by the Afghanistani community.
It is worth underscoring that amidst the Taliban’s grip on Afghanistan and the ensuing restrictions imposed upon Afghanistani women’s ability to work outside their homes, several officials have highlighted the pivotal role these women play in extending humanitarian aid to the earthquake victims in Herat. Despite the prevailing circumstances, these women have demonstrated their resilience and determination to contribute meaningfully to their communities during this crisis.
Furthermore, it is crucial to mention that shortly after the earthquake struck, the Taliban, despite their prohibition on women working at the district hospital in Herat province, expressly requested the return of these skilled workers to provide much-needed support. This significant gesture underscores the recognition of the valuable contributions of Afghanistani women in times of dire need.
