RASC News Agency: Tareq Ali Bakhit, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) representative for Afghanistan, held talks with Mehmet Kemal Bozay, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, to address Afghanistan’s political and economic challenges. According to a statement released by the OIC, the meeting, which took place on Thursday in Ankara, saw both sides engage in discussions about Afghanistan’s political, economic, and humanitarian crises and explore possible solutions.
The statement emphasized the importance of close coordination, consultation, and cooperation between the OIC and Turkey in addressing these challenges. In addition to this meeting, the OIC representative also met with Oguzhan Ertugrul, Director of South Asia at the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The discussions focused on the United Nations’ Doha process, efforts to support the Afghan people, and the continuation of constructive dialogue with the Taliban on various issues, including girls’ education, women’s rights, counter-terrorism, and humanitarian concerns.
Both sides expressed their commitment to finding solutions to these issues during their talks, as noted in the OIC’s statement. This meeting follows earlier discussions between the OIC and representatives from Afghanistan’s neighboring countries in an effort to seek solutions to the country’s problems. Since the Taliban’s takeover, the OIC has been working towards resolving Afghanistan’s challenges, although its efforts have yet to yield positive results.
Since the Taliban regained control of Afghanistan, poverty and unemployment have surged, becoming overwhelming issues for the Afghanistani people. Despite these pressing concerns, the Taliban has made little effort to address the country’s escalating economic hardships.
