RASC News Agency: Local sources in Parwan province have reported that the Taliban, with the cooperation of the Badri Unit led by Hamid Khorasani, have arrested a young man from Panjshir and taken him into custody. On Monday, August 26, sources disclosed that the Taliban apprehended a young Panjshiri man from the Pul-e-Ahani Gulbahar area of Parwan and forcibly removed him from the area.
The young man, identified as Mahbub, is reportedly known as the “Fearless Commander of Panjshir.” According to these sources, a special unit from Taliban intelligence, along with the Badri Unit under Hamid Khorasani’s command, arrived in Parwan specifically to arrest him. The location where he has been taken and the charges against him remain unknown.
Over the past three years, the Taliban have detained more than a thousand young Panjshiris on various charges, holding them in their prisons. The arrest and detention of Panjshiri residents by the Taliban is not a new phenomenon. During their three-year rule, the Taliban have repeatedly resorted to torture, arbitrary arrests, and, in some cases, the extrajudicial killing of Panjshiri residents.
According to Taliban officials, more than 16,000 individuals are currently held in their prisons. These people have been detained over the past three years without any formal charges; their only “crime” being their Tajik or Panjshiri identity. The Taliban routinely arrest and torture their opponents under various pretexts. In the past year alone, hundreds of Panjshiris have been arrested and subjected to torture in Taliban prisons. Former inmates released from Pul-e-Charkhi prison have repeatedly testified that the majority of detainees in that facility were Panjshiris.
