RASC News Agency: Local sources in Kunar report that Taliban intelligence in the province has tortured a former government general following his arrest. Sources stated on Monday, August 5, that the general was detained a week ago in the Suki district of Kunar. The general’s name is Mohammad Ghani.

Sources indicate that he was released after three days of detention, following mediation by local elders. According to the sources, signs of torture were evident on the general’s body, and he is currently undergoing medical treatment. The Taliban in Kunar have not commented on the matter.

Since the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan, they have engaged in widespread arrests, torture, and killings of former government military personnel. Numerous former military personnel have been detained and tortured on various accusations and pretexts. The Taliban justify these actions by claiming that these individuals fought against them.

Since the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan, there has been an increase in mysterious killings, arrests, and torture of former military personnel. The Taliban detain former military members without evidence and subject them to days of torture. These soldiers, who defended their land and honor for years and took up arms for the security of their people, have now been betrayed by the leaders of the previous government and are being detained and tortured without cause.

The Taliban also mistreat the youth, arresting them without evidence. According to media reports, nearly ten young people have been detained in various provinces just in the past week.
