RASC News Agency: The High Council of National Resistance for the Salvation of Afghanistan has clarified that no formal negotiations have yet taken place with the Taliban. Nevertheless, sporadic contacts with certain Taliban officials have been maintained and remain ongoing. The Council emphasized that it has not yet established an official negotiating team to engage with the Taliban. Thus far, the exchanges have been limited to informal and scattered communications.
In response, Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid denied any knowledge of formal talks with political opposition groups. A spokesperson for the High Council of Resistance reiterated: “The Taliban do not believe in meaningful dialogue. To date, no official negotiations have been initiated by the Resistance Council with the Taliban, and the council has not even formed a dedicated negotiation team.”
This statement comes after previous reports suggested formal discussions between the Taliban and the High Council of Resistance, which have now been refuted by both parties. In addition, Afghanistani human rights activists and women’s rights advocates have voiced sharp criticism of the Taliban’s oppressive policies against women and girls, accusing the group of consolidating power and showing no willingness to engage in genuine dialogue.
Masouda Kohistani, a member of the Women’s Protest Movement, remarked: “The Taliban have no regard for human rights values or any discussions concerning peace or inclusive governance. In over three years, there have been no constructive talks regarding human rights or gender-based apartheid, as the Taliban outright reject such principles.” Over the last three years, the Taliban have implemented a series of harsh restrictions against Afghanistani women and have continually refused to engage in dialogue with opposition forces.
