RASC News Agency: The Taliban’s Ministry of Refugees and Repatriations has announced that more than two thousand Afghanistani migrants have been forcibly deported from Iran and Pakistan. According to a statement on the ministry’s website, 1,664 of these individuals were expelled from Iran, while the remainder were deported from Pakistan.

These deportations have been carried out under duress by the authorities of Iran and Pakistan. Reports indicate that nearly a thousand Afghanistani migrants are being deported daily from these countries, with the pace of expulsions increasing in recent months. Recent reports have highlighted the harsh conditions faced by Afghanistani migrants in Iran. According to these accounts, some migrants have been subjected to attacks and harassment by Iranian police and citizens on the streets.

A former Afghanistani military officer, who sought refuge in Iran fearing Taliban retribution, stated that Afghanistani migrants, especially former military personnel, are under significant pressure. He added that Iranian police are detaining migrants, including those with legal documents, and taking them to camps. The officer noted that Afghanistani military personnel are under pressure both in Afghanistan and Iran. An Afghanistani migrant in Iran lamented, “We fled Afghanistan’s misery, only to be hunted down by Iranian police from street to street.”

Another migrant expressed that Afghanistani asylum seekers in Iran constantly face “insults, humiliation, and the threat of deportation.” Recent reports have surfaced of attacks on Afghanistani migrants in Tehran’s District 15 following news of an Iranian citizen’s death in a confrontation with three Afghanistani workers. Some Afghanistani migrants claim they are too afraid to leave their homes for work or shopping. Disturbing images received by us purportedly show severe injuries inflicted on Afghanistani migrants during these attacks.
