Taliban Prohibits Smartphone Use for Government Employees in Paktika

RASC News Agency: Local sources in Paktika have revealed that the Taliban, acting on orders from their reclusive leader, Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada, have imposed a ban on the use of smartphones within government offices. On Saturday, September 14, sources informed the media that the Taliban have issued warnings to government employees, threatening punitive measures for any violation of this decree.

Additionally, the Taliban have instructed guards at the entrances of government offices to rigorously enforce this ban, preventing employees from entering with smartphones. This is not the first instance; the Taliban have previously barred government workers and students in certain provinces from using smartphones.

In a recent development, just days ago, the group announced a similar prohibition on smartphones for students and teachers in Kandahar. According to detailed reports on the Taliban’s leadership agenda, the group is intent on reshaping government institutions and, eventually, Afghanistani society into a strict replication of religious Madrassas institutions where only clerics, religious studies, and sermons are present, devoid of any other activities or innovations.

Since seizing control of Afghanistan, the Taliban have centered their governance on the imposition of restrictions. They have banned girls from receiving an education, barred women from employment, prohibited their presence in public parks, and outlawed men from shaving their beards or wearing modern attire, among countless other decrees. Today, the target is smartphones, leaving many to wonder what aspect of life will be prohibited next by the regime.
