RASC News Agency: Amidst the surging trend of mysterious and targeted assassinations targeting former military personnel from the previous government across diverse provinces of the nation, local sources from Faryab province have recently disclosed an incident involving the fatal shooting of a former local police commander by unidentified gunmen in this province. Sources from Faryab province relayed to the media on Tuesday, January 2nd, that this former member of the government military met his demise yesterday in the fifth district of Maimana city, the provincial capital, at the hands of unidentified gunmen.

As per sources, the slain individual, identified as Khan Shirin Tagabi, had been residing in Maimana city, the capital of Faryab province, subsequent to the Taliban’s resurgence in control of the country. The motive and exact cause behind the killing of this former government military member remain shrouded in uncertainty. In the interim, the Taliban group in Faryab province has refrained from issuing any comments on this incident. This occurrence unfolds against the backdrop of the recurrent phenomenon of former government military personnel falling victim to killings by unidentified assailants or Taliban members.

It is crucial to note that notwithstanding the Taliban leader’s declaration of a comprehensive amnesty subsequent to their assumption of power in the country, they persist in various actions, encompassing detentions, imprisonments, torture, and, in certain instances, killings of former government military personnel. According to reports, since seizing control of the nation, this group has unleashed highly violent measures against former government military personnel. In the most recent incident, they obstructed these individuals from establishing residence in Kunduz province.

It is noteworthy that even though a substantial number of former government military personnel have sought refuge in neighboring countries and the region since the Taliban’s resurgence, reports indicate that they currently face the looming threat of forced expulsion from these nations.
