RASC News Agency: The Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) reported that since the US withdrawal from Afghanistan, Washington has provided $17.19 billion in aid to the country. In a statement released on Friday, May 3, SIGAR noted that US aid includes humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan under Taliban control, as well as funds for the relocation and resettlement of Afghanistani allies.
Meanwhile, some opponents of the Taliban claim that this aid is being distributed to select individuals within the Taliban. Previously, flood victims in the country criticized the US, stating that $80 million is sent weekly to bolster the Taliban, while no aid is provided to those affected by floods.
In a previous report, SIGAR highlighted the prevalence of widespread corruption in the distribution of humanitarian aid by the Taliban.
