RASC News Agency: The Said Nadershah Al-Husseini Cultural and Social Association has officially inaugurated its branch in Calgary, Canada. Having received its activity permit from the Canadian government seven months ago, the Said Nadershah Al-Husseini Cultural and Social Association commenced its operations in Toronto. Following several months of active engagement, the association launched its Calgary branch on June 30.
The Calgary branch was inaugurated in the presence of Afghanistani citizens residing in Calgary and other Canadian cities. The inauguration ceremony featured notable Afghanistani personalities from Calgary and other cities across Canada, including Toronto. Distinguished attendees included Sediqullah Tawhidi, former head of Afghanistan’s Mass Media, General Zahir Azimi, former head of the Ministry of Defense’s Press Department, Dadullah Hassas, former head of Information and Culture of Baghlan province, Kawa Parwiz, editor-in-chief of Hasht-e Sobh newspaper, Ayub Faryabi, founder and president of the Turkman Council of Afghanistan, among others. These esteemed figures participated in the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.
The leadership team of the association, including President Sufi Zada, Vice President Gulabuddin Faizi, Secretary Nasir Kazemi, and Abdulhamid Adel, Secretary of the Cultural Committee, traveled from Toronto to attend and speak at the Calgary branch’s inauguration. In a previous statement, the association declared, “The Said Nadershah Al-Husseini Cultural and Social Association transcends religious and ethnic divisions and aims to provide cultural services to Afghanistani immigrants in Canada and, if possible, in other countries worldwide.”
The inauguration of the Calgary branch was well-received by Afghanistani citizens. Azimi, Tawhidi, and Hassas, participants in the Calgary branch’s opening ceremony, emphasized the significance of this new branch for Afghanistani citizens in Calgary, noting that it would serve as a communal address for the Afghanistan diaspora in the city. Additionally, Abdulkhaleq Khairzada was introduced as the head of the Calgary branch.
Association officials stated, “The Calgary branch planned to host 200 guests for its opening, but the number of attendees reached 300. Fortunately, the branch’s logistical management successfully accommodated all guests.” It is noteworthy that after the fall of the previous government and the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan, many associations ceased their activities, with some being dissolved and others becoming inactive. However, the Said Nadershah Al-Husseini Association was established after the fall of the previous government and has since provided numerous cultural and social services.
The association’s central office has accomplished significant work during its operational period, including creating a cultural website for publishing articles, research, and studies; launching a YouTube channel for disseminating news and necessary information to Afghanistani citizens; and distributing aid to 750 flood-affected families in Baghlan province.
