RASC News Agency: Local Taliban officials in Balkh province have reported that a traffic accident in the region claimed the lives of five individuals and injured five others. According to a statement from the Taliban’s Police Command in Balkh, the incident occurred on Friday, May 31, in the village of Hasan Ali in Sholgara district, along the road connecting the district to the city of Mazar-i-Sharif.

The statement detailed that a “Picnic” vehicle collided with a “Corolla” car, resulting in the deaths and injuries of 10 people. The injured were transported to Abu Ali Sina Balkhi Regional Hospital. However, the Taliban officials in Balkh have not provided further details regarding the cause of the accident.

Reports indicate that during this time of year, the route from Mazar-i-Sharif to Sholgara is heavily trafficked due to citizens traveling for leisure, often leading to traffic incidents. Driver negligence, poor road conditions, failure to adhere to traffic laws, and excessive speeding are cited as the main causes of traffic accidents in the country.
