RASC News Agency: The Taliban’s Supreme Court announced that ten individuals in Khost Province were publicly flogged on charges of “sodomy,” “illicit relations,” and “fraud.” According to a press release issued by the Taliban’s Supreme Court on Thursday, May 30, these punishments were carried out on Monday and Tuesday of this week.

The press release states that each of these individuals received 39 lashes, in accordance with the verdict of the Taliban’s Urban Primary Court’s Criminal and Security Tribunal in Khost Province. The release further details that among the accused, six were sentenced to three years in prison, one to two years, one to 15 months, and two others to six months.

Since their resurgence in Afghanistan, the Taliban have repeatedly carried out public floggings and executions of accused individuals. Human rights organizations have condemned these corporal punishments, stating that they violate international laws and human dignity, and have called for their cessation.
