RASC News Agency: Political parties, movements, and women’s protest groups have issued a joint statement declaring that political actions and engagement will not solve Afghanistan’s problems. At least eight political parties and 13 military and political movements, along with women’s protest groups, issued a joint stance on Wednesday, June 5, regarding the third Doha meeting.
They stated that the Taliban have no right to represent the Afghan people in any meetings or conferences, including the third Doha summit. The statement reads: “Any dialogue in the absence of the primary representatives of the Afghanistani people, under any title, is essentially giving concessions to the terrorist Taliban group.”
They also warned that if the peace process does not show promise, they will resort to any actions, including armed struggle. These groups believe that discussions about Afghanistan will only be fruitful if the interests of its people and various ethnic groups are considered, and if political parties and women’s protest movements, as the voice of the Afghanistani people, are included.
They emphasized that any unilateral engagement behind closed doors with the Taliban is tantamount to ignoring the will, human rights, and suffering of the Afghanistani people. According to the opposition groups, over the past three years, the Taliban have brought only suffering, misery, insecurity, crippling taxes, and the exclusion of women from public life.
The statement further notes: “Alongside the stark political crisis and the complete deadlock, Afghanistan’s security crisis and the export of terrorism are critical issues that must be prioritized on the agenda of the third Doha meeting.” They accuse the Taliban of abolishing laws, creating political and legal anarchy, killing war prisoners, forcibly displacing indigenous people, seizing properties, extorting under the guise of taxes, and killing former government soldiers.
This comes as less than a month remains until the start of the third Doha meeting, to which the Taliban have been officially invited.
