RASC News Agency: On the occasion of the “International Day of Women and Girls in Science,” the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) underscored the significance of the roles of girls and women in science and technology. OCHA issued a statement on Sunday, February 11th, marking the “International Day of Women and Girls in Science,” emphasizing the importance of girls’ roles in science and technology.

The organization emphasized: “Ensuring full and equal access for women and girls to science, technology, and innovation not only contributes to a country’s economic development but also plays a pivotal role in advancing all aspects of society.” While this day is celebrated globally, girls and women in Afghanistan face restrictions, including the denial of the right to attend schools and universities and the prohibition from working in governmental and non-governmental positions.

It is worth noting that following the Taliban’s seizure of power in Afghanistan, they issued nearly 80 decrees targeting women, many of which have barred girls from accessing education in schools and universities.
