Female Journalists and Entrepreneurs Seek UN Support

RASC News Agency: Alison Davidian, the UN Women representative for Afghanistan, announced that female journalists and entrepreneurs have solicited technical and financial support from the United Nations. In a message posted on the social media platform X, Davidian reported her meeting with several female entrepreneurs and journalists in Nangarhar on Tuesday, May 28th.

The UN Women’s statement disclosed that Davidian explored ways to support the activities of female journalists and entrepreneurs in Jalalabad under the current conditions. Human rights organizations have documented that the Taliban has issued over 50 restrictive decrees against Afghanistani women and girls in nearly three years, highlighting systemic discrimination against women.

Despite widespread concern over the dire situation for women in Afghanistan, the Taliban maintain that they have enhanced access to basic rights for women more than ever before.
