RASC: Taliban officials at the Torkham crossing say that Pakistan, in a new decision, has allowed those Afghanistanis who do not have passports to travel to Afghanistan with their ID cards to visit their families.
According to the report of the Bakhtar News Agency under the control of the Taliban group, this decision can be implemented on Saturday, June 24.
Ismatullah Yaqub, commissioner of Torkham crossing, says: “After talking with the Pakistani authorities related to Torkham port, we were able to convince the Pakistani side that Afghanistanis who do not have passports can come to Afghanistan and spend Eid al-Adha with their families.”
He did not provide more details on this matter
It should be mentioned that before this, Afghanistanis living in Pakistan who did not have passports could not travel to Afghanistan.
On Wednesday of last week, Hina Rabbani, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Pakistan, also stated during her visit to the Torkham border crossing that her country has allowed Afghanistani immigrants into her country due to its economic challenges.
Pakistan has taken this decision while recently hundreds of Afghanistani immigrant families have been forcibly detained by the police and returned to Afghanistan, mostly from the Spin Bodak border in Kandahar.
