The Taliban Punished Two Individuals in Paktika Province

RASC News Agency: The Taliban Supreme Court recently subjected two individuals to public lashings in Paktika province on charges of theft, continuing its practice of publicly punishing accused individuals. According to a statement released by the Taliban Supreme Court on Thursday, May 2, one individual received 39 lashes while the other was punished with 35 lashes.

The statement indicated that the sentences were carried out on Thursday by the Paktika Provincial Primary Court after being approved by the Taliban Supreme Court. The Taliban Supreme Court did not provide details about the identities of the individuals. This follows the Taliban’s established practice of publicly punishing accused individuals.

In one instance, the Taliban Supreme Court publicly punished three individuals in Khost province earlier this week on charges of fraud and extramarital sexual relations. Previously, a spokesperson for the Taliban Supreme Court noted that more than 40 individuals had been subjected to corporal punishment in various cities across Afghanistan over the past month.
