RASC News Agency: Sources from Helmand province report that the Taliban recently subjected four individuals to public flogging as part of their punitive measures in the province. Sources informed the media on Thursday, Mar 7, that these individuals received punishment in the presence of Taliban officials and ordinary citizens.

According to sources, the Taliban publicly whipped these four individuals on charges of “sodomy,” “theft,” and “illicit relationships.” The Taliban Supreme Court also confirmed this news through a press release but did not specify the number of lashes each of these individuals received.

This comes as the Taliban have escalated the frequency of public punishments lately, flogging 10 individuals, including two women, in Maidan Wardak province yesterday. It is noteworthy that the Taliban’s public punishments have triggered both domestic and international reactions, with human rights organizations repeatedly urging the group to cease public floggings.

Nevertheless, despite widespread condemnation, the Taliban have persisted with their actions.
