First Shipment of Chinese Aid Arrives in Afghanistan

RASC News Agency: Zhao Xing, China’s ambassador to Kabul, announced that the first shipment of China’s 100 million yuan aid package has been sent to Afghanistan under Taliban rule. According to a message Zhao posted on his X account on Tuesday, April 30, the shipment departed from the Khorgos Port in Xinjiang, China, and is expected to arrive in Kabul soon.

The Chinese ambassador to Kabul added: “China stands with Afghanistan in addressing humanitarian challenges.” Previously, the Chinese ambassador in Kabul announced that his country would provide cash aid worth 100 million yuan (approximately $14 million) to Afghanistan. Since the Taliban regained control of Afghanistan, Beijing’s engagement with the group has increased.

China was the first country to send its ambassador to Kabul after the Taliban regained power and has since signed several significant agreements with the group. Since the Taliban took control of the country, unemployment and poverty rates among citizens have increased, leading to a higher demand for humanitarian aid.
