Taliban militants in Samangan murdered a shop owner

RASC News Agency: According to local sources from Samangan province, individuals associated with Mullah Jalal, the commander of a Taliban faction in the province, fatally stabbed a man. Sources informed the media on Monday, April 15th, that the victim, Moftah, was killed by Taliban members yesterday in the vicinity of the first district of Mazar-e-Sharif city.

According to reports, Moftah, a shopkeeper in Aybak city, the central hub of Samangan province, had traveled to Balkh for purchasing goods. The Taliban’s security command announced via a newsletter that the man had entered a residential house “with the intent of adultery” and was killed following a confrontation with members of the group.

The newsletter indicates that as a consequence of this altercation, a Taliban member was also injured. However, local sources allege that the Taliban are attempting to conceal the incident and assert that individuals linked to Mullah Jalal murdered this man due to “personal enmity.”

During their more than two years of governance in the country, the Taliban have persistently faced accusations of widespread human rights violations, intermittently resorting to killing and punishing individuals for various reasons. In one instance, on December 21st last year, the Taliban also wounded a man suspected of “gambling” in Samangan province by gunfire.
