RASC News Agency: The Taliban Supreme Court announced that as part of its desert court proceedings, the group recently publicly lashed a man in Nangarhar. According to a bulletin released by the Taliban court on Sunday, Apr 7, the individual was accused of “theft,” and in addition to the lashing, he was sentenced to two years in prison.

The bulletin stated that the sentence of public lashing and imprisonment for this individual was issued by the Taliban’s Lower Court in the Koz Kunar district of Nangarhar province. Reports indicate that this individual was punished in the presence of several Taliban clerics, judges, and a group of people. Although the Taliban publicly punished this individual, they did not provide any details about his identity in their bulletin.

Over the past two years, physical punishments including lashing, amputations, and executions have been carried out by the Taliban group. The group claims to act in accordance with Islamic laws. The Taliban group has been lashing numerous citizens in various provinces every week on multiple charges. Just last Saturday, they lashed five men and one woman on charges of engaging in extramarital sexual relations in Logar.
