Taliban Detain Head of Tourism Company in Kabul

RASC News Agency: Local sources report that the Taliban have detained the head of a tourism company in Kabul and transferred him to an undisclosed location. On Sunday, July 21, sources revealed that the Taliban had arrested this individual four days earlier from the 4th district of Kabul.

The detained individual, Noorullah Bekzad, originally hails from the village of Sangi Khan in the Abshar district of Panjshir province. He was solely involved in the tourism sector and had no affiliations with any other activities.

The motives behind Beikzad’s arrest remain unclear. However, sources claim that his detention is likely due to his Panjshiri ethnicity. In the past, numerous individuals have been detained and tortured solely based on their Panjshiri background. Beikzad has been managing a tourism company for the past eight years and has no connections with any political or military factions.

The Taliban have yet to comment on this arrest. Nonetheless, the group has recently intensified the detention of Panjshir residents. Previously, Haji Nuruddin, the head of the Noorain media outlet, was arbitrarily thrown from a three-story building in Kabul by the Taliban, resulting in his transfer to Pakistan for medical treatment. He, too, was targeted because of his Panjshiri ethnicity.

Reports indicate that, in the past week alone, the Taliban have arrested at least three residents of Panjshir province. Amnesty International and other human rights organizations have previously accused the Taliban of committing massacres in Panjshir.
