RASC News Agency: According to the findings of a research study categorizing countries based on women’s safety, Afghanistan, under the rule of the Taliban, has been identified as the most unsafe country in the world. Al Arabiya Farsi reported on Saturday, Mar 9, that this research was conducted by the George Town Institute, an organization actively engaged in women’s rights, peace, and security.

In the ranking provided by this institute, Afghanistan, under the control of the Taliban, scoring 0.286 points, is considered the most unsafe country in the world for women. Meanwhile, Roza Otunbayeva, the Deputy Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), stated that the policy of suppressing women and girls in Afghanistan must cease; otherwise, the country will be driven towards further poverty and isolation.

On the occasion of International Women’s Day on Friday, Mar 8, the head of UNAMA released a statement urging the Taliban once again to put an end to restrictions against women and girls to prevent further impoverishment and isolation in Afghanistan. The UN official added that while investments should be made in women and efforts should be intensified to achieve greater goals, the situation in Afghanistan under the Taliban’s control is contrary to that.

It is worth mentioning that under the Taliban’s rule in Afghanistan, with the restrictive directives issued by this group regarding the lives of women and girls, this segment of society is severely oppressed and deprived of their fundamental rights.
