RASC News Agency: Ahmad Wahidi, the Iranian Minister of Interior, recently addressed the Taliban group’s request concerning Afghanistani immigrants in the country. In response, he underscored that Afghanistani immigrants lacking a valid residence permit would be subject to deportation, returning them to their home country. Mr. Wahidi conveyed these statements during an interview with Iran’s Mehr news agency on Wednesday, November 29th. He pointed out that approximately 5,000,000 Afghanistani citizens currently reside in Iran, and those possessing the requisite permission to stay will be permitted to continue their residency. However, individuals lacking the necessary documentation will undergo deportation.
To streamline the recognition and assimilation of authorized immigrants, the Minister of Interior announced the issuance of a distinctive ID. This identification will empower immigrants to participate in various economic activities, make investments, and contribute to the labor force in areas where demand exists. Mr. Wahidi expressed a hope for the Taliban group to establish favorable conditions that would facilitate the return of legally documented Afghanistani immigrants residing in Iran to their home country.
Despite the ongoing deportation of hundreds of thousands of Afghanistani immigrants from Iran and Pakistan, the Taliban group has requested an opportunity to create conditions for the return of migrants with valid permits. It is noteworthy that since November 1st, over 257,000 Afghanistani immigrants have been deported from Pakistan and repatriated to Afghanistan. The situation remains intricate, and the Iranian government is actively addressing the issue to ensure adherence to immigration regulations and the welfare of both Afghanistani immigrants and the country’s labor force.
